"Rockland Green CARES Animal Shelter – Clean and Orderly Under Four Legs Good Management" - Rockland News

“Such an uplifting experience adopting a new barn cat. A quantum step forward from its predecessor. Efficient, caring structured all for the benefit of our furry friends.  A shout out to Dawn Bernstein whose skill set and personality will propel this organization forward to new heights, Gratitude to Michael for my comprehensive interview to provide assurance of human and loving care for Morris. Finally, but certainly not last, I so much appreciate Holland for her guidance and heartfelt introduction to my new cat adoptee, Morris.  Well done staff.  You are all invariably devoted to animals in need and your compassionate care in exemplary.”

ASPCA Consultants Report of the Operations of the Animal Shelter Operated by Hi-Tor  September 15, 2023

OCTOBER 2, 2023

Rockland Green has donated cat food to the Feed the Feral Food Drive in Orangeburg that was received at the RG CARES Animal Shelter. This food was donated to RG CARES and Four Legs Good by animal lovers and other gracious people but could not be used at the shelter. We are glad that this cat food can be used to serve the feral cat population of Rockland.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2023

It is with deep appreciation that Rockland Green notes the recent outpouring of public support for the animals at our shelter in Pomona along with support for Four Legs Good, the newly contracted consultants . We thank everyone for your kind comments, donations and concerns.  Rest assured that Rockland Green’s support for the sheltering of our needy animals along with their nutritional, medical and nurturing care is funded, and ongoing.  If you are an animal-lover who would like to be more involved with serving Rockland’s animal community, please reach out to Four Legs Good (https://www.fourlegsgoodnynj.org/) to learn of any volunteer or employment activities that may be available.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2023

Due to the deadly outbreak of a feline virus at Hi-Tor Animal Shelter which went uncontrolled and resulted in the death of a considerable number of felines for the future safety of all the animals, Rockland Green has terminated its short-term contract with Hi-Tor Animal Care Center, Inc., as of 6:00PM September 21, 2023.

In a careful and considered response, Rockland Green has now executed a new short-term contract agreement with animal care consultants, Four Legs Good, to care for all the animals.  With the help of Four Legs Good, Rockland Green’s Animal Shelter will humanely care for, shelter, and nurture Rockland County’s needy animals, while continuing to offer the best in medical and nutritional care, along with fostering and adoption services.
