Dual stream recycling sounds complicated, but it’s simpler than you think. Dual stream recycling is also referred to as source-separated recycling and has advantages for both you and our environment. Let’s break this down:
What is dual stream recycling?
Separating your recycling by the material source is essentially what dual stream recycling is. In one “stream”, you place your paper and cardboard recycling. In the other, you place your containers made of glass, plastic, and tin.
Why should I do this?
Dual stream recycling has many benefits, which include reducing contamination, providing better materials to be recycled (ultimately resulting in higher quality recycled materials), and decreasing the costs for us to process the recycling.
How do I participate?
You can start participating by picking up your complimentary recycling bins at your local municipality. Find a full list here.
