In the United States, 40 percent of food goes to waste. Thanksgiving to most means, family, friends, and forkfuls of food. Rockland Green is encouraging our Rockland residents to be mindful, while you’re prepping for your Thanksgiving feast, of the amount of food being wasted on this particular holiday
Giving Back
We love food and spending time with our families on Thanksgiving, but this holiday can be a great opportunity to consider donating to those who may be in need of a little support during this time.
Food banks face high traffic around the holidays and are often in need of seasonal staple food items. If you find yourself with extra food supplies, the following items are encouraged for donation:
- Frozen Meats (turkey, ham, etc)
- Potatoes (raw or boxed)
- Boxed Stuffing
- Canned Vegetables (corn, peas, beans, carrots, yams, etc.)
- Bottled Beverages (bottled water, juices, teas, etc)
- Parmalat, powdered milk, evaporated & soy
