NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act of 2010

The NYS Electronic Equipment Recycling and Reuse Act of 2010 requires manufacturers to provide free and convenient recycling of electronic waste to most consumers in the state.

Beginning January 1, 2012, with the exception of individual and household consumers, all other NYS consumers — including businesses, private or public corporations, not-for-profit corporations and government entities, etc. — may not dispose of, or place for a collection intended for disposal, electronic waste* at a solid or hazardous waste management facility in the state.

Starting January 1, 2015, the individual and household disposal ban becomes effective. No entity may dispose of E-waste as trash in New York State.

E-waste can be recycled at the following locations in Rockland County:

1) Participating Retailers

2) Rockland Household Hazardous Waste Facility
